The interaction of natural environments, human institutions and their impacts on architectural interventions has been investigated through elements of nature and customs of societies. They are traced to their basic form to understand their position independently as well as their role in the larger living environs.
This objective was followed by observing the systems at work in the traditional co-evolving environs of the once-walled city of Ahmedabad, India for a few years. A structure and model of reading and mapping the built environs was evolved through the research with universal criteria. This may make it applicable across different times, space and cultures. It may assist in grasping place and people for it to be translated into a language of space.
